What this means
Every state DOT publishes a federally-required STIP (Statewide Transportation Improvement Program) — typically a rolling 4-year listing of every project funded with federal dollars. It’s the cleanest indicator of what corridors will be torn up and when, plus what new capacity is coming online.
What you can do
- For commuters in a project’s corridor: subscribe to that project’s email alerts via your state DOT.
- For contractors: the STIP tells you what RFPs to expect over the next 18–48 months.
